| Class update: ALL GRAIN CLASS Sunday, February 6th BEGINNER BREWING CLASS Tuesday January 18th
The beginner class is free and covers basic-intermediate brewing, from brewing to bottling. This is the class to take if you happened to get a brewing kit for Christmas, or if you just want a refresher course on brewing. The class goes from 6:00-7:45 p.m. and is held right here at Home Brew Mart. No sign up required, please call one day prior to class to ensure scheduling. The all grain class will cover advanced brewing techniques including infusion mashing and the systems employed for converting the barley's starch to sugar. The class will be taught by Home Brew Mart's Yuseff Cherney. Yuseff has been teaching brewing for 7 years, brewing all-grain at home for 9 years and professionally brewing at Ballast Point Brewing Company for 3 years. The class is held from 12:00-4:00 p.m. and the cost is $20.00. With the enrollment each student will receive a coupon good towards the first batch of grain for their first all-grain brew, valued up to $9.22, (total grain bill not to exceed 10 pounds limited to 20% specialty grain) Sign up is required to ensure attendance. We had our best year ever last year, with our sales and customer base growing to new heights! New Recipes :
Pilsner Steam (done at room temp 60-66 degrees)
5 lbs. Light Dry Malt Extract 1/4 lb. Carapils 1/4 lb. 10 L crystal malt
1ounce Northern Brewer pellets 45 minute boil 1 ounce Northern Brewer pellets last minute of boil
White Labs San Francisco lager fermented at room temp. ideally between 60-66 degrees. The dry malt is used to achieve a lighter color and less caramelized flavor
Pale Bock
10 lbs. Light Malt Extract Syrup
1 lb. Special Roast 30 L 1/2 lb. 40 L Crystal Malt 1/2 lb. Canasta Light 13 L
2 ounces Estranger boil 60 minutes 2 ounces Liberty finish last 5 minutes
White Labs German Lager Yeast if done at 50 degrees or White Labs German Ale or San Fran. Lager done at room temperature.
American Pale Ale from January 6 th Beginning Brewing Class
8 1/2 lbs. Cooper's Light Malt Extract Syrup
1/2 lb. 20 L Crystal Malt 1/2 lb. 40 L Crystal Malt
2 ounces Perle hop pellets boil 60 minutes 2 ounces Centennial hop pellets finish last minute
White Labs California Ale Yeast
Mary Wanna Beer (Hemp Seed Ale)
9 lbs. Light Malt Extract Syrup
1 lb. 60 L Crystal Malt 1/2 lb. Dark Crystal 135 L 4 ounces crushed sterile hemp seeds (steeped with grains)
1 ounce Eroica boil 60 minutes 1 ounce Columbus finish last minute
White Labs California Ale Yeast
(This beer contains no THC and the hemp seeds are sterile, therefore they will not grow. This beer is produced in a similar fashion to those micro brewed "hemp beers" now available, such as "Carlsbad Chronic," brewed by Kirk McHale at the Carlsbad Pizza Port and "Humbolt Hemp Ale," brewed by Humbolt brewing Co.)
